Free membership for Driving Instructors in North Devon

We are looking for 25 driving instructors based in North Devon.

Following a series of serious and fatal crashes on the North Devon Link Road, the Northern Devon Road Safety Group was established and is made up of members representing several key agencies and communities including Devon and Cornwall Police, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, Devon County Council, Torridge District Council and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner.

The group is funding the supply of road safety campaign materials for 25 driving instructors based in North Devon and you are invited to join The Honest Truth free of charge (membership normally costs £108 per year).

The Honest Truth project recognises that ADIs provide a unique opportunity to reach every new driver at a key point in their driving career, when they are still in the learning frame of mind and receptive to new information.  The Honest Truth harnesses the power of the ADI/learner relationship by providing structured resources and guidance, allowing ADIs to quickly and easily delivery key road safety messages within the context of normal driving lessons. In short, THT is the road safety plug-in for driving instructors.

Those driving instructors who join The Honest Truth will receive online training and then a package of resources in the post.  The ‘truth pack’ is the backbone of the ADI delivery resource. Learners read about one of the 10 Truths per lesson, then discuss things with you. You will also be supplied with four short films on the Fatal Four (drink/drugs, distractions, seatbelts, speed). These can be shown to your students with the Truth pack to add context.

On their first lesson each learner is given a Truth card, a record of which Truths have been delivered. When the card is complete you sign it off, then your learner can upload it to the Honest Truth website for a  chance to win some great prizes.
