The Honest Truth is a national road safety charity working in close collaboration with police, fire, local authorities and Approved Driving Instructors to reduce the shocking statistics of young and other drivers on UK roads.  The project was created ten years ago in 2009 following a tragic, fatal collision in South Devon which killed three young people.

“Road crashes are the number 1 killer of 16-25 year olds in the UK. The aim of The Honest Truth is to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured on our roads through education.” Assistant Chief Constable Jim Nye, Chair of Trustees

Our method is to work with a network of Approved Driving Instructors across the UK sharing The Honest Truth’s unique intervention, coupling behavioural psychology with the innovative use of animal heads typifying risky behaviours, to deliver our key messages.   Young people are extremely receptive to information shared by their driving instructor.   This method will allow us to reach high-risk young people via guided discussion with their instructor, website and handouts.   We also provide educational materials for parents, and campaigns targeting young drivers and other road users.
